happy new year to all

December 31, 2012

it’s been a wild and crazy 6 months as we simultaneously moved our studio and home. balancing work and feeling uprooted was at times overwhelming. the kitchen floor is being finished as i write this. i am grateful to have had the opportunity to make design choices and experiment with new light and texture. i want to thank friends, family & clients for all your patience and support during this period. as the days grow longer, i become more optimistic and even excited about this new beginning…new year • 2013

good mourning dove

March 25, 2012

today is one week since the doves started sitting on their eggs. they never leave the nest unattended. from what i’ve read, the male sits in the early morning until late afternoon and the female relieves him late afternoon. he likes facing in toward our living room and she likes facing out toward the courtyard. thankfully, neither seems to mind our being near them! i think it will be about another week before the babies make their appearance.

March 19, 2012

so today is my mom’s 80th birthday…quite a milestone. and thankfully she is healthy and happy (knock on wood!!!) happy happy birthday mom!! my brother, sister and i and our families spent the weekend celebrating in florida.

upon my return i checked on the terrace to see how “our” doves were doing. the love birds have taken up residence in a branch sculpture i have hanging over the doorway. i guess they liked it and decided to make a nest.

here are the “girls”, the beautiful birthday girl and our love bird. what a day:)

a spring wedding in nyc

March 13, 2012

romance is in the air. march weddings are special for me because my husband and i were married in march. Mallory & Brad awoke to a rainy overcast day with forecasts of storms. As hair and make-up were under way, the skies cleared and although it was windy, we were able to head out for some fresh air and photos with the most beautiful glowing light and the feeling that spring is just around the corner.

Juliana & Nicolas, a Brazilian French Romance in NYC

December 26, 2011

It’s about 8 minutes long but maybe you’re on vacation this week! Hopefully this love story will make you smile.

Guests traveled great lengths to New York to be a part of this wedding, The bride, Juliana, is Brazilian; the groom, Nicolas is from France. The two met in NYC after relocating here for work.  They each fell in love with the city and on their early dates they discovered they also loved dancing together. The 1st dance was an impressive celebration of their love cheered on by family and friends at the Tribeca rooftop. . The sunset illuminated the ceremony. The city lights entertained all. The ceremony embraced all three cultures as the groom spoke his vows in the bride’s language (Portuguese) and the bride spoke in the groom’s native language (French). The officiant spoke mostly English but included French and Portuguese. A Brazilian band played sweet sounds on the rooftop at dusk and a Brazilian sweets table hand made by Juliana’s mother and grandmother accompanied the cake.

The dance floor was filled with motion and romance until the early hours of the morning. Enjoy

tim robbins and the rogue gallery band

July 28, 2011

last night at le poisson rouge i was overwhelmed with emotion as tim and the rogue gallery band took command of the room with their music. i’ve known tim for a while now, and have been impressed by his warmth and of course acting and directing talent but was truly taken under the spell last night with his vulnerability, humor and engaging sounds. especially moving was a tribute to his parents who passed away this year.

have a listen and if possible, experience this show.

about twitter, he joked “if you’re going to do it, make it a poem”. for me, his performance was a poem. thank you tim for opening your heart.
